Finding you in your photography.
February 26th – March 9th :: Only $59
We use the same camera as many, processing our photos using the same apps and programs as most. The difference is not mechanical. What can be different from one another and should be uniquely your own, is you. You(r), Discovering you in your photography. Discovering those parts of ourselves that we process, reflect and create in our work—recognizing those parts of our practice that nurture our expression. I truly believe that there is no place to ponder whether our work is good or bad—we only need to ask if it's honest, if it's our truth.
As many of you know my story, now having been almost ten years in recovery, I need a safe space to process my shit, coming to terms with who I now am and want to be. Through photography, discovering my own truth, I've found a place that is both true to my own necessary boundaries and to the boundaries of those around me. Photography and that which I capture gives me the moments to start putting together a life. I have no real answers, but these years have taught me that without staying on that edge of my own vulnerability and a willingness to be transparent, I have little chance to grow or to feel whole. It began and continues to be about me discovering my truth and having the courage to own it.
I believe this more now than I ever have, each photo that we take is about what we are processing, what we are feeling, what we are being. If you can concede to this notion and completely believe that each photo we take is about our own personal journey, what’s in us, then anything we see becomes a photo worth taking, a feeling worth expressing.
This 10 day course, You(r), will lead you, push you and I hope change you. I will walk you through the steps with daily information and prompts, encouraging you to find your truth and own your voice. While light on technique, we will be concentrating more on transparency, expression and that often needed space of vulnerability. We’ll come together in a private Facebook group and on Instagram, sharing through the hashtag #yourtruth2018—which will give us a togetherness and support. I’ll be there as well to provide supportive feedback—I’m in it with you.
You(r) eCourse will include:
- 10-days of prompts delivered each day, Monday through Friday.
- A private Facebook group that is your own safe space to share and support one another.
- Two live video chats from me within the private Facebook room.
- I will be in the Facebook room daily, answering questions, offering support and guidance.
My hope is that this course will touch and lead you to a place that gives you that truest vision for your own photography and self.
I'm still a huge work in progress—it's a part of the truest parts of me, but through photography and the photos I take—that quiet place that allows me needed pause in connection, I’ve had time to heal and to know that there’s not a moment in my life when embracing my frailties and all the thoughts that linger in those deep recesses do not bring me closer to whole. Through the vulnerability I’ve learned the ability to love the imperfections in all I see and most of all, in my own self.
